Well.
Here is how it went. I got bored of paying the shorting fees and watching the index creep us slowly.

So I closed that position today. I know I didn't time the entry particularly well, and since I always miss the timing there is no doubt that the index will tank 10% in the next week or two. Big Grin

Total profit is somewhere around 20%, so I'm still happy with the outcome.
Sounds like it was time to move on while you were ahead.  If you are bored, the US FAANG stocks and TSLA are looking a little frothy again.  So are oil tankers and gold.  They probably need a good shorting. Just throwing out ideas for you.  Smile

Hope you are right. Sitting on some December 150 Puts for GLD.

i bought a real speculative stock this morning but one that can pay off in the long run. INO in at $14.38

Bill Gates is a big backer of the company and this company is located 15 min from where I live. I love the CEO as well. This is one I'm not trading. I'm in for the long haul and think they will be one of the first to to have a vaccine approved for COVID-19

Join me for the ride to $50+ lol

I think INO had a very good chance going forward. I have been watching that stock since $9 Big Grin . I may buy some today on the bear raid. I bought NVAX as well. I think these COVID-19 stocks are a great way to play the market. I wont go crazy but would like to add a few other names to my portfolio.

Be careful, several of my friends and family are pretty sure Bill is the anti-christ.   Big Grin   I am a fan and have considerable fun challenging their conspiracy theories.  I am just waiting for Bill to tell me where to report so I can have my micro chip implant and post it on Facebook lmao.

What ever Bill Gates touches turns to GOLD lol

Funny I have been looking at some bio names as well over the past few weeks. A lot of them have ran up so fast. But your right in INO and even NVAX. Both have presented some good science and I can see them both running up over the next few months. CODX, MRNA, BNTX, TBIO SNY and REGN as well.

I'm going to do a little more research today and will most likely buy a few of these names.

PFE I bough last week.

I've owned PFE about 30 years and am overweight.  About to get some of my shares called away but that's probably for the best.  Solid company but they find a wall to run into every few years.  It was THE pharma stock to own when I was young.  IMO still one of the safest stocks to own on a decent pullback.

Diamond Offshore files BK. It's just getting started. Now we'll see if any of these companies actually go away or just re-org.

RE: The Speculative Stocks.... - fenders53 - 04-27-2020

Sold a MAY 15 CBRL Call spread 100/105. I say the run up on today's news of delivery service is a bit excessive. We'll see. I start to lose if CBRL get's much over 101 soon. It's a NASDAQ stock and pretty volatile daily swings so I think I can escape this if I have too. I am celebrating my retirement new boat account is back to even today with a smallish hedge on the port lol.

RE: The Speculative Stocks.... - fenders53 - 05-08-2020

Did somebody just type XOM and CVX on a speculative stock thread? Smile That is a stunning drop in rigs. I wonder who will start cheating first and ramping it back up? 292 does seem too low.

i added a position in NVAX today

RE: The Speculative Stocks.... - fenders53 - 05-27-2020

Otter,

I'm sure you have been watching USO and their recent news. It's got more drama than a TV reality show. Grounded from buying new oil futures contracts lol. How are they going to get out of this one? And no I am not invested but it's still entertaining to watch. It's like "Oil TSLA"
