Negotiating Brokerage Fees?
#1
I just saw this blog post: http://www.selfmadebusinessman.com/2014/...ding-fees/

It makes sense, just like negotiating annual fees on credit cards or lowering APR. Obviously leverage is key (I'm new so I don't have much activity, although maybe the "I plan on having lots of activity" angle could be played)

Has anyone ever tried negotiating brokerage fees?

Tell your current broker that you are switching to one with lower fees unless they match. Worked for me with TDA as they dropped the charge to $7 per trade.

This is the best way. Same with most bills like telephone etc. Basically anything that is easy to switch, if there are cheaper alternatives then you can use that to try and get cheaper service from your current service provider.

Personally I'm with IB so no worries about fees. :p
