Direct Dividend Investment Plans
#1
I taught a class I called "The Average Person's Retirement Investment Plan". It was aimed at:
- those who have limited funds to invest
- those who are not currently saving for retirement,
- those who never invested in stocks,
- those who have their investments in GIC's and Mutual Funds
- those who invest but don't have an investment strategy

I recommended they only consider companies which offer both DRIP's and SPP (share purchase plans) then look at the dividend history (min 10 yrs) and dividend growth (long history of increases) of the companies. Finally we evaluated the strengths of the company.

In the end we came up with a list of eleven, 4 banks, 2 pipelines, 2 communications, 2 electric and one insurance company.

I still think it a great way to invest as there are NO fees to re-invest or purchase additional shares. The selection is limited but more than adequate. Buy the initial shares, re-invest the dividends and add to those positions when valued priced. Then hold till retirement!

No fees, commissions and worry free investing.
